The new version 0.8v will be released on March 9th

Next Sunday, March 9th, I will upload the new version of Not So Standard Procedure. After the gamejam version I started to optimize some aspects of the game that were impossible to include in that version due to time constraints.

In this new release, v0.8, the following changes will be implemented:

Change in platform location: The platform where the characters bounce was placed in a position that left a large blind spot when the robot turned from side to side, ruining the gameplay experience on many occasions. It has now been placed from the center of the robot so that when it turns from right to left or vice versa, there are no dead zones where workers cannot collide with the platform. In addition, the platform design has been changed, the colliders adjusted and its length increased slightly.

Skill bar: In many situations in the game it is IMPOSSIBLE to save certain workers with the current movement mechanics. The idea of adding a special ability that can only be used every so often is to fill this gap, that is, to give the characters an ability that allows them to desperately save those condemned workers. It is a bar that fills up over time (and can be seen on the robot's own body), which allows an ability to be activated when it is full. In this case, the player will be able to activate the ability that will launch a beam of energy in the direction he is facing and that will act as a rebound platform if it collides with the workers.

Enter player name: After a game is over, the player can now enter their name to record their score (using an arcade style class for it).

Improved scoring system: Another feature that we didn't have time to implement for the game jam was the Top Scores table. Now I've included it in the main menu, where you can check the 10 best scores that have been achieved (position, player name, points and date).

Robot Faces: NCGW is a robot that has a green phosphor screen as a face. I wanted to implement a system for changing expressions and information on this face-shaped screen, but it was not included in the jam version. Now the robot is more endearing with its new expressions and information (it was a mistake not to have included some expressions in the jam version, in retrospect).

Intro Improvements: The home screen tutorial, which is intended to be quick and easy, now includes robot expressions, in addition to an explanation of how to use the skill bar.

Pixel Art Improvements: The game's pixel art still needs a lot of work to improve its visual quality. In this update I've chosen to add a dark outline to the silhouette of all workers, improve the pixel art of objects such as the lamp post and the drum, change the platform or tarp that the robot uses, add the robot arm in a different place...

Sound and Music: Some sound effects have been added (background effects such as fire, sirens, breaking glass...). Also, new music for the game's final screen.
